The Brown Sugar Beauty Expo was an amazing experience that highlighted the beauty and talent of black hair salon stylists.
It really is a good feeling to be a part of a whole team. So it was euphoria for me last night when the ladies of Trendz by Tammy Hair Salon team came together and showed out for the first ever (hopefully annually) Brown Sugar Beauty Expo. My team included myself Tammy Fleming, master hairstylist/owner of Trendz by Tammy Black Hair Salon, hairstylist Sonovia Grant , hairstylist Carolyn, my assistant Sara,
3 beautiful models Imani Breaux, Neisha Smith and Eurika Madden, and the night would not have been complete without my friends of the production team 2osos to capture it all. The team of David E.F. Perez and Aaron Coleman.
I am a hairstylist in the cosmetology industry for 18 years and I was among my peers last night. The level of professionalism displayed in that room showed me everyone came with their “A” game. I was so proud of the number of venders who came out to show their support to the cause through sponsorship such as My Fit Foods, and Sprinkle Cupcakes.
And the entertainment was off the chain because your know DJ Superstar will always rock the house. I mean I was moving and grooving while curling my model’s hair. The entertainment was topped off with a night of spoken word poetry (no, not yours truly Authentic Deception) and the sweet sounds of songbird Liz Vaughn.
This all was put together by a lady who has love for this industry. She worked tirelessly to bring her vision to fruition. A special thanks to Gracelyn Frasier of Brown Sugar.
And just as quickly as we came, four hours later, we were gone. Everything was cleared away from our assigned area, just as we had found it.
But the memories will remain forever.
